I certify that I am of legal ageChampagne Gardet is coming up roses and is in the spotlight thanks to The Drinks Business' Champagne Masters 2024 competition.
Following its second participation in the "Champagne Masters 2024" tasting competition organized by the British magazine The Drinks Business, Champagne Gardet is pleased to announce that its cuvées have been singled out and honored. Every year, The Drinks Business organises a series of blind tasting competitions called "Global Wine Masters", with a category reserved exclusively for Champagne: "Champagne Masters". This series of tastings rewards the best champagnes with a bronze, silver, gold or master's medal. For this 2024 edition, Champagne Gardet won not one, not two, but three gold medals for the following cuvées: Brut Réserve Premier Cru, Millésime 2015 Extra-Brut and the final highlight for the new vintage of Prestige Charles Gardet, dating from 2008.
As described in the online article dedicated to our House on page 61, the method of prolonged aging at Champagne Gardet comes into its own with the Prestige Charles Gardet Millésimé, of which the first vintage dates back to 1995. The 2008 vintage has just been released and is one of the last champagnes of that year to reach the market. This cuvée illustrates the perfect balance between the complexity of aging and the specific acidity of the vintage. The judges at the Champagne Masters were therefore unanimous: this champagne had to be crowned with a gold medal.
« This wine, from the beautifully fresh and well-structured 2008 vintage, has been recently released after 15 years on the yeast lees. Pale gold in colour with a wide cordon and streams of tiny bubbles, the wine displays plums, passionfruit, toast and a hint of caramel, accented by chalk and wax notes. Extra-Brut in style (5g/l dosage), the palate is medium-bodied with bracing acidity, linen mousse texture and a lovely cardamom-accented finish. Well-defined, complex and long. » Patricia Stefanowicz (MW)
