I certify that I am of legal ageThe special 'Champagne' issue of French magazine Terre de Vins hit the shelves on Wednesday 6 December. As every year, the heart of this special issue lies in the presentation of the selection of the "100 best Bruts non-vintage to enjoy for the festive season". Champagne Gardet Brut Tradition had the honour of taking part, and was awarded the excellent score of 94/100. Editor and taster Yves Tesson wrote about this great success:
"Gourmet and seductive both on the nose and on the palate. Fruity notes prevail, with hints of red fruit compote that appear light thanks to the fine bubbles. Moderately sweet, with a touch of redcurrant jelly, but the champagne remains straightforward and lively. A well-balanced wine. Goes well with: Medallion of veal with morel mushrooms".
The special 'Champagne' issue is also a look back at the news that has marked the appellation. In this issue, they all seem to revolve around one major theme: the art of lasting. And when we talk about time, the art of ageing champagne easily springs to mind. Long ageing periods are very important at Gardet, and the result is champagnes with a style that is voluntarily vinous but fresh, made for ageing and gastronomy, as is so well represented by the new Prestige Charles Gardet Millésimé of the year 2008. The Prestige Charles Gardet Millésimé is the symbol of the House's expertise. Always keen to guarantee the quality of its champagnes, Gardet is one of the last Houses to offer only the 2008 vintage year for its Prestige cuvée.
"You may be familiar with "The Prestige", the superb feature film by Christopher Nolan. Now you'll be familiar with prestige 'made by Gardet', with the house's new vintage wine, Prestige Charles Gardet 2008. Like the film starring Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale, there's magic in the air, and above all in the bubbles, with this champagne, the latest to emerge straight from Gardet's fabulous cellars. It features a magnificent Chardonnay-Pinot Noir tandem (70% and 30% of the blend respectively), made from Premier and Grand Crus only, and the fruit of a very abundant harvest. Rather discreet by nature, the Chigny-les-Roses-based house is likely to be noticed for this pretty nectar ... of prestige. »
