I certify that I am of legal ageChampagne Gardet keeps a few bottles of each of its exceptional vintages in its wine library at the end of each ageing period, in order to preserve a common thread, a trace of Gardet's history. Champagne Gardet is now unveiling these fragments of its past, long hidden in the intimacy of the cellars, by creating the ‘Secret Collection’. This Collection reveals timeless, profound and enigmatic cuvées. Hidden away in the wine cellar, they have travelled through the decades and through time.
After more than a century of making Champagne, Gardet now finds its cellars overflowing with exceptional bottles, both vintage and non-vintage. Among the hidden treasures are vintages dating from 1996, 2000 and many other years, each more exceptional than the last. Because of the rarity of these Champagnes, and in order to leave them to rest in the cellar for as long as possible, the wines are disgorged on case-by-case basis, with only a few available each year. The entire production process for this Collection is carried out ‘à façon’: disgorging is done by hand, the dosage is made to measure and according to the typicity of the vintage, carried out by Champagne Gardet's oenologist, Stéphanie Sucheyre, and then our team labels and packages each bottle by hand in its box accompanied by its technical data sheet.
Each of the prestigious bottles in this Collection conceals a treasure... No two bottles in this Collection are alike. Champagnes in green, smoked or black-painted bottles and in different shapes stand side by side as the Secret Collection travels through time. The bottles come from different vintage years and different Gardet cuvées. An exceptional collection needs exceptional packaging. For lovers of mystery, the secret is kept until the moment the bottle's label is revealed. The different wines aged in the vinothèque keep their own bottle, but have a common label, cap and box. Only a technical inscription on the neck of the bottle, attached with a wax seal, provides specific information about the wine's vinification.
More informationsIn developing this Collection, we wanted to bring out the world of mystery and secrecy. All the thought that went into the cuvées presented, the packaging, the box and the serving ritual was guided by the historical, confidential and mysterious dimension of the wines in this Collection. The starting point for the creation of the graphic identity of this Collection was the appropriation of 7 black lines, which can be found on the box and on the label of the cuvees. In numerology, the number 7 is considered to be the number of the mystical.
