I certify that I am of legal ageEvery year, The Drinks Business organises a series of blind tasting competitions known as 'Global Wine Masters'. This series of tastings, during which each wine is tasted by at least one Master of Wine, rewards the best of them with a bronze, silver, gold or master medal - the highest distinction. When the judges award this last prize, it means that they have agreed on the exceptional quality of the winning wine, so very few wines are honoured with this award at each competition. In 2023, for the Champagne Masters category of the Global Wine Masters, only 7 Champagne winemakers received this distinction out of more than 160 participants. According to the judges, a Master wine must be "an outstanding example of its type, demonstrating impeccable winemaking". Champagne Gardet remains incredibly proud to have been given the Master medal, awarded in March 2023, for the cuvée Millésime 2013 Extra-Brut. This medal is testament to the House's unwavering commitment to producing champagnes of the highest quality.
To continue highlighting the work of these few wineries, The Drinks Business released its new edition of the Master Winemaker 100 guide at Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris on Monday 12/02/2024. Now a must-read, The Master Winemaker Top100 pays tribute to the world's top 100 winemakers who have been awarded a 'Master' medal in one of the tasting categories. This guide spotlights the personalities who work in vineyards from all over the world, and The Drinks Business' idea behind this feature is to bring these few names to the fore, to salute their creativity and their production of exceptional cuvées. They all have different backgrounds and origins, but they have one thing in common: they have all won the ultimate recognition, the Master medal in one of The Drinks Business Global Masters tasting series.
So, after receiving the Master medal for its Millésime 2013 Extra-Brut in March 2023, Champagne Gardet's oenologist, Stéphanie Sucheyre, has also distinguished herself by appearing in this extraordinary Top 100. It's a double award for our cellar master, as she joins the short list of personalities to have received an award within this Top 100, as Best Masters New Entrant. It is once again an immense pleasure and privilege for Champagne Gardet to be able to announce this success to all the friends of the Maison Gardet. The creation of exceptional cuvées is at the heart of Stéphanie Sucheyre's work, and she has been rewarded for her passion and dedication to excellence.
"After an impressive debut, further French success came as Stéphanie Sucheyre was awarded Best New Entrant for her work at Champagne Gardet." By Michael Huband
